Secrets to Maintaining Professional Success During Fertility Treatments

Finding Focus and Balance During Fertility Treatments

When you’re balancing a demanding career and navigating fertility treatments, things can get overwhelming fast.

There’s the pressure of maintaining your professional performance, all while handling multiple appointments, medication schedules, and everything else that comes with IVF.

It’s not surprising if you sometimes feel like your focus is scattered and your productivity takes a dip.

Add in the emotional ups and downs, and it can be hard to show up as your best self at work.

Managing Emotions and Keeping Composure at Work

The emotional rollercoaster of fertility treatments is real. There’s hope, frustration, anxiety, and joy—all in one day sometimes.

The weight of keeping it all together, especially if you’re not ready to share your journey at work, can be mentally exhausting.

When you’re carrying that kind of emotional load, it’s easy to question yourself and feel like you’re not quite measuring up.

But at the same time, you don’t want to come across as anything less than capable and confident in your role.

A Better Approach to Navigating Work and IVF

It is possible to manage both your career and fertility journey with more ease.

It’s not about pushing through or doing more—it’s about using strategies that nurture your mental and emotional wellbeing, so you can show up at work and in life with a sense of calm and clarity.

Below are some practical tips that I’ve found to be helpful, both from my personal experience and through working with other women in similar situations.

Five Strategies to Maintain Professional Balance During IVF

1. Set Clear Boundaries and Prioritise Your Wellbeing

Setting boundaries isn’t just about saying “no” at work.

It’s about creating a routine that supports both your professional and personal needs.

Even small actions—like blocking out time for lunch or taking five minutes to just breathe—can make a huge difference in how you feel day-to-day.

Be gentle with yourself, and allow some flexibility for those days when things don’t go as planned.

2. Incorporate Mindfulness Techniques into Your Day

Mindfulness doesn’t have to mean sitting in silence for an hour.

Short practices like a few minutes of deep breathing, or even a mindful walk, can help reduce stress and ground you in the present.

These small moments of calm can make it easier to stay focused and keep a more positive outlook, even when things are challenging.

3. Consider Having a Discreet Conversation with Your Employer

It’s entirely up to you whether you want to share what’s going on at work.

If it feels right, a private conversation with your manager or HR can help create more understanding and flexibility.

You don’t need to go into detail, but sharing that you’re managing some personal medical commitments can make it easier for others to understand your situation and offer support if needed.

4. Use Digital Tools to Stay Organised and On Top of Things

Scheduling tools, reminder apps, and digital planners can be lifesavers when your brain is juggling a hundred things.

Set reminders for appointments, plan out your work tasks, and don’t forget to schedule breaks.

Having everything mapped out can reduce the feeling of chaos and give you a better sense of control.

5. Explore Hypnotherapy for Stress and Emotional Wellbeing

When I was going through IVF while working a high-pressure job, I didn’t know about the power of mindset work.

I focused on diet, exercise, and supplements, which helped me physically, but emotionally I was drained.

It wasn’t until I discovered hypnotherapy that I realised how much it could support both my emotional health and overall mindset.

Hypnotherapy can help you manage stress, build resilience, and maintain your professional composure, even on the toughest days.

So, knowing the benefits is one thing, but actually making it happen and experiencing that sense of calm and balance is another.

But don’t worry, I’m here to help.

I’ve been where you are…

I know how overwhelming it can feel to try and keep it all together.

When I went through my first IVF cycle, I was in a high-level management role, juggling countless responsibilities at work while managing clinic appointments and all the physical and emotional demands of the treatment.

I tried to keep it all a secret, pushing through every day, determined not to let it affect my job performance.

I focused on what I could control—my diet, exercise, and supplements—but at the time, I didn’t realise how crucial mindset and emotional wellbeing were.

Although the cycle was successful, the strain left me completely drained, and I knew I couldn’t carry on in that position.

I stepped away from my career and took the time to reflect on how things could have been different.

That’s when I discovered the power of hypnotherapy and decided to retrain as a clinical hypnotherapist and life coach.

I’ve gone through multiple cycles since the success of my first cycle and Hypnotherapy has helped me to cope with the disappointments, frustration and emotional turmoil that comes with IVF treatment. It made my journey easier to cope with and thankfully, i had another successful cycle at the age of 42!

I chose to specialise in supporting professional women going through IVF because I understand how difficult it is to maintain your career, emotional health, and fertility journey all at once.

My personal experience means I truly understand the unique challenges you face, and my professional training equips me to offer real, tangible support.

Whether it’s managing stress, staying focused at work, or dealing with the emotional rollercoaster, I can help you find balance and resilience during this challenging phase.

Together, we can create a plan that’s tailored to your needs, so you can thrive in your career while nurturing your personal journey.
